 Chairman's Message

Welcome to the Trout Unlimited Wisconsin State Council web site. As I assume the position of State Chair I look forward to my time with both excitement and a little worry.

Bill Heart is leaving the Council in a strong position. We are financially sound, our chapters are strong, and the habitat work being done around the state continues to increase. The list of educational and community activities that TU in Wisconsin is involved with is extremely impressive.

The worry part comes from the ongoing resource battles we are involved with. The groundwater situation in the state is of particular concern. Trout need cold water, and with groundwater levels dropping and areas of the state experiencing drought conditions there is concern about what the impacts will be to our resources.

Sound angling regulations are also important in maintaining quality fisheries. Trout Unlimited will continue to be very vigilant in opposing regulations which we feel will do harm to the trout resource.

While most of our members are avid trout anglers who fish with a variety of tackle and techniques it is always important to remind everyone that our first priority will continue to be the conservation of the resources future generations will need to enjoy quality outdoor opportunities.

I encourage everyone to visit our web site frequently to keep up to date on issues of importance to TU. Please register if you are a member so you will be able to participate in forums and have maximum access to information on the site.

If you are not yet a member please consider joining us. We feel we have much to offer.
